Yes, we will hold a pre-conference event entitled: Pursuing Mutually Enriching Loops Between Transformative Research, Societal Impact and Education: An Immersive, Interactive Workshop This workshop will be devoted to participants reflecting on their own journey to date and envisioning the specific loop between research, education, and social impact. It will draw from 2.5 decades of experience in symbiotic academic-social enterprise through the stream of work on subsistence marketplaces, encompassing, research, education and social enterprise through marketplace literacy. Through individual reflections, group discussion and presentations, this workshop will provide a space to reflect back on your journey and envision a path forward. The workshop will emphasize practical ways in which a mutually enriching loop between research and societal impact can be pursued. This preconference workshop will represent a significant step forward from previous preconference workshops at TCR conferences and will be of interest to those who have attended before. Participants are welcome to join during the workshop as their travel schedule allows as the format will be flexible, consisting of self-contained parts. Some questions that participants will consider: · How can my research have greater societal impact? · How can societal impact enrich my research? · How can I initiate and sustain the virtuous loop between research and societal impact? · How can I pursue transformative research and societal impact given practical constraints? In other words, how can I be passionate yet practical. · How can similar synergies be created with education? Costs for the pre-conference will be $50.00 and will include lunch and snacks.
